Forestry and timber security, no power or Wi-Fi needed

The forest that guards its own gate

Forests, harvesting sites and timber yards are remote, unpowered and unwatched at night. HoundLight is a solar 4G alarm unit that secures them with no power and no Wi-Fi — and after storms such as Éowyn in Ireland and the UK or Gudrun in Sweden, windblow clean-up sites stay watched for the weeks the work takes.

What goes missing

The things that disappear on a forest or timber site after hours.

Fuel siphoned from bowsers and harvesters

Chainsaws and power tools taken from crews' vans and sheds

Harvester and forwarder parts stripped overnight

Timber taken from roadside stacks

Vandalism and fire risk, especially in dry spells

Windblow clean-up sites exposed for weeks after storms

Where to put it

Where ImageDeep watches on a forest or timber site.

Forest entrance / barrier

Watches the main way in — tracks, rides and forest gates.

Harvester & forwarder parking

Guards machines left parked overnight at the coupe.

Roadside timber stacks

Keeps eyes on timber waiting for collection.

Fuel bowser / diesel tank

Protects the fuel store furthest from the road.

Sawmill & timber yard perimeter

Covers the yard fence line and stacked timber.

Nursery & depot

Watches young trees, trays and kit between seasons.

The 2:04am scenario

It's 2:04am. The coupe is two rides from the public road and the harvesters have been parked since Friday. A van noses up the forest track and stops by the forwarder. Before anyone gets out, a solar unit on the barrier post lights up the track and a voice warning tells them to leave. They reverse back down the ride. The clip is on the forester's phone by morning, with the time it happened.

Illustrative scenario — no real customer implied.

How it works

From a shape in the dark to a record your insurer can read.

1

Detect

A person shows up after hours — the AI on the alarm unit spots them.

2

Warn

A verbal warning tells them to leave, and blue and red lights start flashing.

3

Alert

The clip goes to the whole crew at once, by app, text or WhatsApp. Anyone can cancel or escalate it in the Scopis AI app.

4

Record

Every event is logged with its clip in Scopis AI, ready for your insurer or the police.

Pair with SmartReg at the forest gate

HoundLight watches for people. SmartReg, our number-plate recognition product, logs every lorry and vehicle in and out of the forest with a daily report of timber loads leaving. Together you know who walked in — and what drove out.

Why not a CCTV tower?

  • No road, level pad or tow vehicle needed — it goes on a post or pole

  • No fuel, no generator noise and no refuelling trips in the forest

  • It moves with the crew to the next coupe or compartment

  • Several small alarm units cover more points than one tall mast

Questions for Forestry & timber

No. HoundLight runs on its own solar panel and battery and connects over 4G, so it goes on a gate post, stack side or pole anywhere in the forest.
